Welcome to the BrowserBlog

Chris Schlaepfer|CEO & Co-founder
Hi - I'm Chris, CEO of BrowserBook. We build tools to help engineers automate the web more efficiently.
My cofounder and our CTO, Jorrie, and I started BrowserBook a little over a year ago with a completely different name (Chorrie - get it?) doing a completely different thing (automated medical coding using AI).
After a long journey that probably warrants a whole separate blog post, we decided to pivot into something that is better aligned with what we're good at and which has caused us both pain during our respective careers: browser automation.
A bit about us
Jorrie and I are old classmates from MIT, where we both studied computer science. After a few years of moving jobs and cities after college, we both ultimately ended up working at Google following the pandemic.
We determined in 2024 that it was time for us both to leave (see again, another blog post) and, with help from Chris LeDoux's fantastic song about entrepreneurship, decided to start a company together.
We've gone through Y Combinator, hired a team, and are now laser-focused on building the best possible tool for AI-powered web automation.

Why write a blog?
As we launch into the next phase of the company, we thought putting together a blog would be prudent for two reasons:
- Content marketing. I mean, if we're gonna be honest, let's be honest.
- We've spent the last several years working in the applied AI space, experimented with new products, seen hype cycles come and go - and we've developed some opinions. Are those informed opinions? We think so, at least for the most part. But we're okay with being wrong and having a discussion about it. So this is our way of doing that.
What to expect
I'll start off by plainly stating that neither Jorrie or myself have ever written anything close to a blog (Facebook posts from middle school notwithstanding), so frankly, we'll see. But we have a few categories of posts we expect to be publishing on a fairly-regular basis:
- Product updates: Anything related to new features or functionality of the BrowserBook IDE.
- Conversations on AI: Historically we've had internal discussions about industry news, new AI-related products, etc. - we'll share some of those here.
- Philosophical ramblings: Like I said, we have some opinions. These have informed the way we've gone about developing our product. We hope sharing them will shed some light on our approach as a company.
These posts will come from the entire team, so you'll get a variety of topics and perspectives to explore.
Our launch & what's next
In exciting company news, BrowserBook is now live! You can and start automating your web workflows today.

In the meantime, we'll be posting articles about our philosophy towards AI-powered automation and other related topics - so follow us on LinkedIn for regular updates and content.
Closing thoughts
Taking a second to be vulnerable: Jorrie and I have never considered ourselves particularly good at social media or content marketing. We generally like keeping our heads down and building.
That said, we really do think we've developed some interesting insights during our experiences working with AI, and we think it'd be good both for our company (again, being honest here) as well as the AI-interested community if we share them.
We will not always be right. We embrace it, and are excited to learn from the community at large through responses to these posts and other engagement on social media and elsewhere.
